Introduction to NovoLiq

Evaluation of liquefaction hazard is an engineering art requiring judgment and experience in addition to testing and analysis.  A wide variety of methods from well respected researchers and practitioners have been implemented in NovoLiq to carry out the liquefaction analysis.

This state-of-the-art software program is also fully integrated with gINT, Winlog, LogPlot and GeoSystem's LD4 suite of products. NovoLiq has been designed to cover 10 world-wide known liquefaction analysis methods for calculating Cyclic Resistance Ratio (CRR):

As part of our policy for respecting our customers, NovoLiq gives you options for choosing analysis methods among all available recommended formulae (please see analysis methods for details). NovoLiq supports the following field tests for liquefaction triggering:

In addition, user has the options to choose the favourite method for calculating the following parameters:

Select if a soil layer participates in liquefaction or not

NovoLiq automatically calculates depth correction factors based on your selected formula. Please read the Theory Manual for more details.

Data Storage

using NovoLiq you can Save and Load your data for each calculation and print a well-designed report, including tabular data and all plots. In addition, the following features are implemented:

bullet

Exporting all tables and graphs to MS Excel and image formats

bullet

Standard user manual (Help) with descriptive instructions on how to use the software as well as Theory manual.

bullet

Importing data from gINT database files with free format

All charts can be separately printed, saved as text file, MS Excel file and even exported to graphic formats like JPG, BMP, TIFF, etc.

Post-Liquefaction Analysis

Calculation of lateral spreading and vertical settlement after and during liquefaction is one of the most challenging part of the liquefaction analysis. NovoLiq performs all this calculations based on the most recent researches (see 6 options here).

Another post-liquefaction parameter - residual shear strength (Sr) is also calculated at each depth. This analysis is based on Idriss and Boulanger 2004 approach (also presented at Vancouver December 2009 short course on soil liquefaction).

Ground Improvement Tool

Do you want to see what will happen if you improve the soil in a specific depth range? It takes only fracture of a second with NovoLiq! You only need to specify start and end depth of ground improvement. All lateral displacement and vertical settlements will be ignored in this range and will be eliminated in ground surface movements.

This software is designed so flexible that you can even specify if each layer participates in liquefaction triggering analysis or not. If a layer is not selected (or if a ground improvement is defined is a depth range), those depths will be removed from output dataset.

The powerful report builder in NovoLiq summarizes all results in a good-looking, printable report in form of tables and graphs.
